Shirley Rothwell
Shirley Rothwell has been working in clay for over 30 years and has been a member of Gallery Sixteen for the last twenty. She has found that her favorite method of creating art from clay is by hand-building. Taking inspiration from nature (the way it is or the way it might be) Shirley makes tidal pools, petal bowls, shells, leaf plates and leaf jewelry out of stoneware and porcelain. A Master Gardener, she grows many of the plants she uses as molds for her pieces. She has added porcelain angels ranging from three to fourteen inces to her collection. She has won "Best of Show" in numerous juried exhibitions and was a guest artist at the Montana Governor's mansion in Helena. Just for fun, Shirley also plays with fiber - spinning yarn (including dog hair!) knitting and weaving.

Paintings, drawings, pottery, fibers, jewelry, sculpture, cards, furniture, original prints, and limited reproductions. Gallery 16 specializes in handling the work of Montana artists and craftsmen. The creations of over 100 artists are on display at the spacious gallery. The large variety of original work includes paintings, drawings, pottery, fibers, jewelry, cards, wood working, photography and original prints. Also some limited edition prints are available.
